Northend Youths Vrs Portrush Colts        Saturday 18th February 2017

The Youth team started against Portrush Colts hoping to build on last week's good  performance  the first half saw the baby blues dominate possession and create a host of chances,  a long range volley from Feargal McKay rattling the bar the closest we came.  Very much against the run of play we conceded a goal from a free kick to go in 1 down at the interval.

The second half started well with Jackson Greer's persistence creating a chance which he converted from close range.  Two minutes later Seth Park's long range effort lobbed the keeper to put the boys in front.  The boys pushed forward at every opportunity Feargal McKay,  Seth Park and Seb Smyth winning the midfield battles and creating chances.  Persistence from Smyth saw him on hand to tap in from close range following Feargal McKays effort coming off the post.  Park made it 4 with a great free kick from the left side of the box.   A good move involving Jack Stewart,  Joe McKay and Feargal McKay set Greer free to score his second of the day.

This was a great performance,  Paddy Murphy was superb in goals and dominated the ball anytime it came close.  Jack Stewart  and Joe McKay were solid in defence giving little away.  The midfield 3 worked tirelessly and Jackson Greer was a constant threat. Alan Nowak showed some good touches when he was introduced.
Goalscorers on the day were J Greer (2) S Park (2), S Smyth

Northend United Vrs Ballycastle United        Saturday 18th February 2017

This was a dominant performance from the start with Lewis McDonald and Calvin Termonia terrorising the Ballycastle defence. Northend quickly took the lead when Lewis McDonald scored after a great throughball from Charlie McIlhatton. The score was doubled after a stinging long range effort from Calvin Termonia was only parried by the goalkeeper and the ball fell to McDonald for a tap-in. Termonia made it three with a great solo effort.

Northend started the second half much the same as the first and McDonald added to his scoring with a low drive into the bottom left corner of the net. Ballycastle scored a goal back after a goal-mouth scramble from a corner. However, the best was yet to come with a great team goal, with every player from defence through to the midfield where Mark Campbell skipped past one player on the wing, passed to McDonald, who sent the ball into the box where Termonia to slot home under pressure. McDonald scored another goal just before the end of the match after a great one-two with Daire Higgins before rifling into the net.
A few changes were made positionally, moving Dillon Glass out of nets and moving McDonald and Termonia around during which time Ballycastle score another two goals.
Goalscorers on the day were Lewis McDonald (4), Calvin Termonia (2) and Daire Higgins

Northend Youths Vrs Magherafelt Sky Blues Colts     Saturday 11th February 2017

The 07 Youth team were in action against Magherafelt Sky Blues Colts.  Hoping to put the disappointment of the previous week behind them the Baby Blues started strongly creating some good chances.   A lapse of concentration saw the boys concede 2 soft goals in as many minutes.  Half time 0-2

The second half saw the boys show more of the football they are capable of.  With Joseph McKay and Jack Stewart solid in defence,  Feargal McKay,  Seb Smyth and Jackson Greer on top in midfield chances came thick and fast.  Feargal ended a good move involving Caoimhin McNally and Seb to strike a left footed effort to the roof of the net.  The boys pushed hard for an equaliser but were caught on the break to leave the final score 3-1.   This was a much better performance from the boys with the result not reflecting their dominance.  Full time 1-3

Northend Youths Vrs Bertie Peacocks Youths      Saturday 4th February 2017

07 Youths were back in action in Coleraine against Bertie Peacocks Youths.  With a full panel to chose from the boys started brightly but lost their way after going a goal down.  The introduction of Seth Park, Joseph McKay and Luke Campbell failed to turn the tide and the boys found themselves trailing at the interval.

The second half continued to challenge the Blues and we struggled to get any rhythm into our game.  The reintroduction of Jackson Greer saw us have a 10 minute spell where we created a few chances,  a good run from Jackson set up Seth Park who fired home from close range.

Coleraine Academy Vrs Northend United     Saturday 28th January 2017

The 07 United team returned to action at the weekend in the NW&CYL after almost a two month winter break. The young Blues were down to the bare bones for this match and ended up trailing 2-1 at half time, with Calvin Termonia on the scoresheet for the Ballymena boys and girls.
Northend played some really good passing football after half time but try as they might, they couldn't get back in the game.

Ballymena Town Vrs Northend Youth       Saturday 28th january 2017

The 07 Youth team were back in action at the HGF league in Coleraine.   Missing four regulars, the Baby Blues were supported with players from the U9s.  The boys started brightly but found the physical presence of the Ballymena lads a challenge.  After conceding a couple of early goals Donnelly, McKay and Smyth started to influence the game.  A good move involving Seb Smyth and Jack Stewart led to a succession of corners with Feargal McKay delivering quality ball and putting pressure on the Ballymena defence,  a series of good saves ended up with McKay scoring a fine effort from outside the box.

Missing our regular keeper, Jack Stewart and Jackson Greer both performed well between the posts.  Greer's move to the centre of the park added sparkle to the midfield and Northend created some good chances.  Ballymena persisted with the long ball and Northend's younger lads struggled with the high ball and conceding another couple of goals.  A good move involving Smyth and McKay sent Jackson Gregg through only to be up ended on route to goal.  Feargal McKay stepped up and fired home the resulting free kick to the corner of the net.  This was a battling performance from the boys with the young U9 lads stepping up and giving it everything.
